If you’ve been following my previous posts, you’ll know my current project is a collection of illustrations of imaginary animals with the title, Once Upon a Time. But sometimes I like to take a break and try something different. I’ve never been someone who enjoyed a classroom environment, but online art courses and the free videos on YouTube are a great way to explore different mediums. So having been working in black and white for a while, this week I’ve been doing an online watercolour course by Laura McKendry

It’s not an easy medium to master. For one thing, unlike acrylics or oil, if you make a mistake you have to live with it—or work with it—and actually, I find that quite liberating, rather than a limitation. Taking advantage of “mistakes” is often what makes something uniquely your own art.
