Slugs and an illustration

I’ve been late with this blog post, as due to not being able to work because of drilling coming from my neighbour and my normal chronic pain being even worse because of the noise.

Anyhow, last week I was listening to the BBC UK News , and an item came up about slugs chomping through vegetable patches.

One annoyed gardener said ”I’ve tried everything even coffee grounds but no the slugs keep munching through my lettuces and the coffee grounds, slugs aren’t supposed to like coffee grounds, the slimy critters should slither away and die”

So now there are insomniac, anxious slugs, roaming around fields in England munching their way through vegetables and looking for their next caffeine fix.

Here’s the next illustration for my book ‘Once Upon a Time – A collection of imaginary animals and stories.

The stick insect

Melody Jack a writer from substack kindly wrote a storyline for this image……….

The leaves fall, carried by forces beyond their control, just like us.

At the mercy of the wind, they journey to unknown places.

In their descent, there’s a beauty in the dance of inevitability and chance.

The wind whispers through the branches, telling a story of impermanence and quiet surrender.

Each season a testament to our existence.
