When Fred was at the vet recently (having the dreaded finger-up-the-bottom anal gland drainage) we put him on the scales and discovered he’d put on nearly a kilo. You can just imagine his reaction to this news …
“The vet said I should watch my weight, but what does he know? OK, yes, he’s a vet so he does know a few things for sure, but hey he should realise: it’s all solid muscle, not fat, and I’ve got heavy bones. Anyway, I don’t trust the scales in the clinic.”
Whatever … From now on he’s getting fewer treats and he might have to cut out the pints of lager down the dog and duck.

I drew this illustration of Fred and Betsy, an ambassador for Operation Beagle, and it received a lot of likes, shares, and comments on Twitter and Facebook. Betsy was rescued from a cruel breeder who supplies dogs for laboratories. She now helps FLOE (For Life On Earth) to publicise the plight of animals who are used in experiments. Check out Betsy’s website: http://operationbeagle.org/

As usual, I’d love people to contribute text to go with my next illustration ‘Water off a Duck’s Back’ which will be included in my book ‘Once Upon a Time’ – A collection of imaginary animals. Please post your suggestions as comments on the blog post, or send them to me by replying to this email.
Anyone who contributes to the Once Upon a Time book will get a credit and a print of their choice.

‘Water off a Duck’s Back’ illustration is available on Magnets, Tote bags, posters, coasters from my shop on Redbubble
